Hollywood’s Undying Quest to Anger Gamers…and more

Article titles like this literally make me cringe:

Story of Gears of War Movie Not Following Games?

Good grief. You know, with all of the blogging/reporting/hype that’s been given to the fact that Hollywood keeps screwing up video game plot-lines in the movie adaptations, you would think SOMEONE over there would get the point.

ATTENTION HOLLYWOOD: DO NOT MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF A VIDEO GAME UNLESS YOU FOLLOW THE GAME’S STORY…STRICTLY!!

I mean, really…how many freaking times do they have to be told? When I read the article above, I just shook my head in disgust. I’m a big fan of Len Wiseman (I loved the Underworld movies and Live Free or Die Hard), and I think Chris Morgan has a lot of potential. But guys, guys, guys…why in the hell would you take on a movie project based on something so sacred to so many people when you don’t know anything about it??

I’m completely at a loss.

That’s like me signing up to teach a class on diffusing explosives when I have no clue how to do it. It’s just not something you should do, unless you want something to blow up (and not in a good way).

Argh.

Speaking of games, SFSignal has a nice tidbit on the upcoming Dante’s Inferno video game. I’ve been hearing good things about this one, although it does kinda look like God of War in some aspects. The graphics are supposed to be superb, though, and the immersion factor is supposedly high. I think therefore I will give this one a shot when its released.

Have you ever wondered how Sherlock Holmes would fare against Gandalf from Lord of the Rings in an intellectual comparison? Yeah, I never have either…but somebody did over at bordersblog.com. Check out the article here. It’s amusing.

And finally, I just want to reiterate your need to check out Hayes Hudson’s House of Horror blog on a regular basis. Hayes does a variety of horror-related news reporting, including a weekly horror-related DVD release post and many different movie reviews. Plus, he recently mentioned doing giveaways. And who doesn’t want something for free? Bookmark his site and check in with him often. I do, therefore you should, too.

That’s all for now. Talk to you later.
