I am experiencing a tragedy of unbelievable proportions. I’ll bet every person in my current situation said “Naw, that won’t ever happen to me”. But it did happen to me…it happened last night, around 1130 pm. And I am so mad about it that I can’t see straight.
Yes…as hard as it is to comprehend, my Xbox 360 got the red ring of death and died.
I was stunned. It happened right in the middle of one of the hardest levels on Doom 3. After the screen froze up, I glanced down to the rented game that was sitting under the TV stand (as luck would have it, I had found a misplaced copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for rent at Hastings last night as well and snatched it up…guess that was a waste of $8 and good luck).
Unbelievable. This wasn’t supposed to happen to me. My console was manufactured (according to the label on the machine) in November 2007, which was after Microsoft had said the fix had been put into the hardware…right? RIGHT? Looks like it wasn’t.
Grrr.
I contacted Microsoft this morning and they told me it was under warranty still and I’d get a new one, but it’s going to take a few weeks for this to happen. Talk about sucking!!
On a positive note, my trip to Salt Lake City went well. I got to sit in and try out an actual, military F-16 flight simulator at Hill Air Force Base. THAT was a trip! I was able to figure out how to take off and maneuver around a little bit, although I wasn’t able to take out the selected target (an enemy boat on the lake). Guess I don’t have the ‘right stuff’ to be a pilot.
Anyway, that’s it for today. I’ll post again tomorrow or Tuesday with some more illuminating thoughts. I’m too bummed about my 360 right now to think anymore.
